6 April 2023 | 5-6:30pm | MIT, Room 4-163

MIT Global France Seminar

La Parisienne

Screening of La Parisienne Démystifiée in French with English subtitles, followed by a conversation with filmmaker, writer and activist Rokhaya Diallo and filmmaker Louis Massiah, 2022-23 MIT MLK Scholar.

Film synopsis: The rest of the world imagines the typical Parisian woman as white, slim, and elegant, a bike-riding cigarette smoker dressed in stripes. Yet Paris is one of the most ethnical-ly diverse cities in the world. Rokhaya Diallo dismantles the cliché by introducing us to today’s Parisian women in all their diversity.

Presented by MIT’s Global France Seminar in partnership with History at MIT.

This event is free and open to the public.
