The MIT Music Production Collaborative is hosting its fall music hackathon, this year judged by multi-platinum rapper and MIT MLK Visiting Scholar Lupe Fiasco (you’re lying if you say you didn’t have this song on repeat in 2011). Participants will create a track related to a mystery prompt, either with a small group or on their own, and then Lupe will provide feedback in a listening session. The collaborative will provide MIDI keyboards and staff mentorship for participants with all levels of experience, and participants bring a computer and any other equipment on which they want to make your track. The collaborative will also provide staff mentorship throughout the day for those who haven’t produced music before.

Schedule

9:30-10:00: Coffee/Setup (3-370)
10:00: Lupe Fiasco’s prompt revealed (3-370)
10:00-4:00: Song creation (3-370)
4:30-6:00: Listening session with Lupe Fiasco (4-237)
6:15-7:45: Dinner and musician mixer (4-237)
