The Black Alumni/ae of MIT (BAMIT) will host a Research Slam on March 25, an online-only event celebrating alumni researchers.

Black alums in research roles at MIT, Northwestern, Georgia Tech, Carnegie Mellon, and Vanderbilt will compete for $2,000 in prizes for best communicating their research to a panel of accomplished journalists and editors in a fast-paced virtual pitch competition.

Attendees can join the fun, too, interacting with and learning from both aspiring and established researchers working on some of the world's grand challenges. And live polling will contribute to an audience-choice award to complement the judges' communications awards.

All competitors will receive publicity and feedback on their presentation style!

Interested in competing? Email the organizers a short summary of your current research and affiliation. Eligible competitors must be current Black MIT students or Black MIT alums (of any discipline) who are doing research. This may include UROP, postdocs, research scientists, independent researchers or non-tenured faculty members at accredited colleges, universities, or NGOs/nonprofits around the world.
