25th Annual MLK Leadership Award

"When I think of Dr. King and the motivation he possessed, I ask myself, 'What else can I do to become a better leader?'" said Adriana L. Holguin '99, honored for her role in the National Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and the National Society of Black Engineers. She said she accepts the responsibility and challenge to educate others. "At the same time," she said, "I'll never forget the important things in life -- humility and faith in God." [MIT News Office, 10 Feb 1999]

Assistant Dean Ann Davis Shaw, nominating Ms. Holguin, described her as "a credible and persuasive individual, always successfully motivating others on her team for action oriented results... well respected by her peers."
